Just a middle-brow reader who loves a good story, recipe or how-to.
DNF'ing this one. The description says "irresistably droll" and "twisted fables that echo with pinpoint acuity," "wickedly dark satire" that "turns the traditional fairy tale on its head." What we really get is rushed seeming writing, a self-satisfied tone, crassness, profanity, nothing even slightly droll or amusing, and I haven't even mentioned the prologue. The "twist" is that it is a creation story with Satan having made the universe. I tried to read further, made myself read several of the stories, but I just can't put myself through any more of this foulness. One of the worst books I've purchased in a while and I just wish I could get my time and money back.
