Just a middle-brow reader who loves a good story, recipe or how-to.
Rereading this first in series book, in advance of receiving the final book, Manners & Mutiny, reminds me of how much I adore the Finishing School Series. It is, by far, the best Steampunk/Historical/espionage/comedy of manners/YA series I have read. The humor, the characters, the world-building, and even the vampires & werewolves along with the connections to the adult Parasol Protectorate and new Custard Protocol series are even more enjoyable the second time through. I look forward to re-reading books 2 & 3 and, with a bit of sadness that it is the last, book 4.
And I still want a Bumbersnoot of my own, even if he will leave little piles of ash on my carpet.
