Just a middle-brow reader who loves a good story, recipe or how-to.
The Unit is a frighteningly plausible novel, categorized as Adult Dystopian. The translation from Swedish is flawless and I was never aware that it was a translation while I was reading.
Much of the dystopian fiction that I have read recently has been action focused, but this is a more contemplative book. This is a story that really made me think about how I would react to a situation, much in the way that Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale did when I read it as a 20 year old back in the late 80's.
All of my "Well, what if...?" questions were answered through the story. Except one at the end and one that I thought of afterward (but those would be spoilers, so forget about it).
