Book Review: A Bride at Last by Melissa Jagears

A Bride at Last - Melissa Jagears

Melissa Jagears excels at telling a mail-order bride story with an unexpected take. This is the third in her Unexpected Brides series which began in the (free ebook on Amazon) novella, "Love by the Letter." It tells the story of Silas Jonesy, whose mail-order bride left him after only seven months of marriage. Ten years later, Silas is a recovering alcoholic when he receives a letter from Missouri asking for money. Instead, he travels from his homestead in Kansas to ask for forgiveness. What he finds is his wife, dead, and her son Anthony in the care of a mail order bride turned schoolteacher, Kate Dawson.
When Anthony runs away, Silas and Kate must overcome their differences and other difficulties in their search to find him. But just when things are looking up, their pasts come to haunt them.
Unexpected Brides is one of my favorite series and this latest installment does not disappoint. The journeys towards love and faith are heartwarming and interesting to read. I highly recommend this entire series.

My full review (with descriptions of each entry in the series) can be read at my Wordpress blog: http://wp.me/p5Tcfi-3y

I received a finished paperback from the Bethany House Reviewer Program in exchange for an honest review. It now sits on a shelf with the first two books in the series, which I purchased.
